Since the Franciscan Monks first planted their mission vineyards in the late 1700s, wine has been an integral part of the California lifestyle and history making California a world leader in the wine quality revolution.

Few places on earth enjoy such diversity of soils and climates. These infinitely varied growing conditions form well over 100 American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) from which California's 3,000 wineries produce their award-winning wines.

California wines have been successfully distributed for years in both the domestic and international markets. California wines are available in nearly 150 countries worldwide.  California wine exports surpassed  the $1 billion mark in 2008.
